Terms of service
Last updated 8 September 2026 (version 2026-09-08.1)
These terms are the agreement between Lactone Labs Ltd (“we”, “us”) and the business subscribing to DRAMFINDER (“you”). By creating a venue you accept them.
1. What the service is
DRAMFINDER gives your venue a themed web page where your guests describe the flavours they want and are shown the closest bottles from the list you maintain. Matches are suggestions generated from flavour data. They are not professional advice, and nothing in the service is a promise that a guest will enjoy a particular dram.
Putting it on your own website. You are welcome to embed your guest page in your own site. Two things follow. It is still our page, served by us, so if we change how it looks or works it changes inside your site too. And if your page is suspended or a payment fails, the embedded version shows the same short message your guests would see — it does not show your visitors anything about your account, but it does sit inside your website, so it is worth knowing that is what appears.
Link previews. When your page is shared — in a message, or on social media — we generate a preview card carrying your venue name, logo and colours, served from our address. Changing your branding changes the card we generate from then on. It cannot change copies already saved by other services, which we have no way to reach.
2. Your account
Sign-in is by one-time link to your email address, so keeping that mailbox secure is what keeps your account secure. You are responsible for what is done through your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.
3. Your content, and what you contribute
These are two different things and we treat them differently.
Your venue’s own material — your logo, colours, venue name, welcome message, prices and stock information — remains yours. You grant us only the licence needed to display it on your venue page and operate the service. You confirm you have the right to use your logo and anything else you upload. You are responsible for the accuracy of your prices and stock: we display what you enter.
Material describing a whisky works differently, because it becomes part of a catalogue every venue shares. This means a tasting note you write, a photograph of a label you send us, or anything else you contribute that describes what a whisky is like.
You keep ownership of it. You grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, analyse it, create derived works from it, and sublicense those as part of our catalogue and our service to other venues.
Bottle names count too. If you paste a list and we do not already hold a bottle by that name, your line may become a new entry in the shared catalogue once we have checked it. Until then it is visible only to you.
This continues after you stop using DRAMFINDER. Anything already taken into the catalogue cannot be withdrawn — other venues rely on it, and our own analysis is built on it.
What we will not do. We will not publish your notes as your notes, name you as a source outside our own systems, or share your bottle list, prices, stock levels or customer data with anyone.
What we ask of you. Anything you contribute about a whisky must be your own work — your own tasting, in your own words. Not copied from a producer, a published review, or anyone else. We record where every note came from, and one that isn’t what it says it is would carry weight it hasn’t earned.
4. Alcohol, licensing and your legal duties
We do not sell, supply or promote the sale of alcohol to consumers. The service is a reference tool for guests already in your venue.
You remain solely responsible for complying with your licence and with all applicable law — including age verification, responsible retailing, alcohol marketing rules, and any restrictions on how prices are displayed. Nothing here transfers any part of that responsibility to us.
5. Our catalogue
The shared bottle catalogue and its flavour mapping are ours and remain ours. You may use them to operate your venue page. You may not scrape, resell or redistribute them, or use them to build a competing product.
The flavour values we derive are ours. When our methods read material you contribute and produce flavour characters, intensities and confidence figures from it, those values are our own work rather than licensed material. They remain ours if you leave.
6. Content from distilleries
A distillery can attach its own material to a bottle in our catalogue — a short story about the whisky, how it was made, a note from the blender. Where a bottle on your list has that material, it may appear on your guest page.
These are the rules we hold ourselves to, and they are part of this agreement:
- It never changes what your guests are shown. Matching is arithmetic on flavour alone. No distillery can pay, or do anything else, to have its bottles ranked higher, shown first or featured. There is no advertising on your page.
- It is always attributed and always visually separate, so a guest can tell what is the distillery speaking and what is data.
- You can turn it all off with one switch, or mute an individual distillery, at any time and without asking us.
- We may remove it, and we may never edit it. Neither can you: you can take a distillery’s words off your page, but nobody gets to put different words in its mouth.
7. Fees
The subscription is £20/month per venue, billed monthly in advance. It is a rolling monthly agreement with no minimum term: cancel at any time and the service continues to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund part-months. If we change the price we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
8. Availability
We will use reasonable endeavours to keep the service available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may take it down briefly for maintenance, and we rely on third-party infrastructure we do not control.
9. Ending the agreement, and suspension
You may cancel at any time from your account or by emailing us. If we end the agreement without cause we will refund any period paid for but not used.
Taking your list with you. Ask us at any time — including when you are leaving — and we will send you your bottle list, your prices and your stock as a spreadsheet, free, within 30 days. Everything that is about your venue comes with you. What stays behind is only what section 3 describes: the whisky descriptions you contributed, which the shared catalogue is built on.
We may suspend your venue page for one of these reasons, and no others:
- you have not paid;
- you have broken these terms, or used the service unlawfully;
- there is a problem with your alcohol licence, or a licensing authority asks us to;
- you ask us to.
We record the reason every time, and we will tell you which one it was. Suspension is reversible: nothing is deleted, and your list, prices and branding are exactly as you left them when it is lifted.
If payment fails, your guest page stops answering. We email you first and give you a grace period to fix it, and the page stays live throughout. After that it shows a short message to guests instead of your list — it does not show them anything about your account. Paying brings it straight back. We are telling you this here because you will have printed the QR code, and a page that has stopped working is the one thing you would most want to have been warned about.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, we are not liable for lost profits, lost sales, lost goodwill, or indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability arising out of this agreement is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we will email account holders at least 30 days beforehand. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the courts of Scotland have exclusive jurisdiction.
